By learning about a number of historical, political, social and economic issues that impact women, students will be well versed on women's experiences, but will also develop an understanding of how the histories of certain groups are often not highlighted in the traditional general education curriculum. This course, therefore, provides students with the ability to challenge traditional presentations and perspectives, by giving students the opportunity to explore an array of political, economic and social issues through a lens that takes gender and women's experiences into account. Social Science 220 helps students to appreciate diversity, to critically think, and to explore new ways to interpret and present key social and political issues impacting United States society.
